Throughout the recent Christmas period we saw everyone go wild for bows over on Instgram. From Melanie Lissack’s bow laden tree that went viral, to oversized bows on doors, candles, wine glasses and presents. You name it, it had a bow on it! I’m not sure how you feel about trends but I like to think I’m not much of a follower but I covered my tree in bows back in November for a House Beautiful shoot so I’ve clearly been influenced too!
But as I mull about the trends for 2024 I’m left thinking, are bows just for Christmas or are they here to stay?
The Pinterest Trend Report landed in my inbox last week, and they report that ‘bow outfits’ saw a 190% rise in searches and ‘bow aesthetic’ rose by 55% in 2023. So they have predicted that bows will be one of the big trends moving through 2024. And where fashion goes, interiors tend to follow, so whilst we’re going to see bows on our dresses, blouses or accessories, we can expect to see bows being used across the home decor too. And I’m here for it!
I don’t think you should ever embrace a trend for the sake of it, but it is fun to see the new ideas people are implementing and it keeps things feeling fresh. I do love that it is such an accessible trend. We can all tie a bow right? So whether you use a traditional gingham or bright mustard velvet, we can all get on board with very little effort or budget!
If you want to go one step further, here are some of my favourite bow shaped inspired interior ideas…
So will you be getting onboard with bows this year? Or are they a design classic that’s always been part of your decorative repertoire anyway?
